wrapping up december, har-har

in the month of december the following happened at school: 1. i played iron maiden in lang arts. my little rocker student fell out of his chair he was so happy. yes, the song was relevant. 2. i showed the princess bride in soc studies and my 3rd period class absolutely loved it. so it's not exactly historical...there's a castle in it. 3. while teaching a stage version of "a christmas carol", one of the other la teachers exclaimed "oh no. i don't have a ***!" when she realized a character was missing from a scene. 4. our principal had a grievance brought against him. i'm not sure for what. what does this mean for the future? idk. 5. i was informed by the aunt of a now expelled student that that student had been expelled for possession, while i was at a social gathering. when i questioned my principal via email for info, he responded that "oh, mr.soandso should have told you." a tad unprofessional, no? 6. my secret santa rocked! and my giftee liked my gifts so yeah! 7. my la students completed their first lit analysis essay. while the essays are a tad weak on analysis, most of the class got the general idea so yay them! 8. NCLB is here in full force. we are to give data pep talks to those kids who just below proficient. screw the rest of the kids, right? we just need to bump up those test scores. 9. a seventh grader did a line of chili powder(idk if anyone else is familiar w/the chile/limon/salt combos that the kids scarf down) in science class. truly a seventh grade moment. he had to sit there and suffer the watering eyes and burning brain until his nose started bleeding. 10. two kids were caught going at it up against the wall of the gym after school one day...and the girl is one of my seventh graders so i get to have a little discussion about what "love" means when we get back. this is at the request of my awesome vp who thinks said girly needs a little relationship guidance. 11. my seventh graders love me. i got all kinds of schwag for xmas this year. i secretly love my crackhead 8th graders more tho. ok, not true, it's just a different kind of love. 12. i got all of my us history lesson plans for ch 11 from the guy down the hall. now, if we can just keep that gravy train rolling... 13. the music program gave an awesome concert that i enjoyed. except for the first year strings. oh well, everybody's gotta start somewhere. 14. i went off to break feeling exhausted and catching a nasty cold, but feeling that maybe i am accomplishing something.
