i don't turn off

i was discussing the framework of a study i am doing w. another woman in the study and she made a comment about how the ideas get repeated throughout and i respond w. "it's called spiraled instruction" i also felt the need to explain to the other party goers that yes, capt morgan does have a first name and it is henry. not to mention the fact that he was a notorious pirate famous for bingeing(sp?) on rum. i got on my soapbox the other day during class. most of my students totally tuned out except 3 of them, who are always asking me questions anyway. civil liberties, baby! if you don't know what your rights are, how can you make sure the govt isn't taking them from you? the government should fear the people! and so on and so forth... so, the district office is nuts and really, what else can you expect? we now have a teacher work day that has been given to the school sites to use as the administrators see fit so we're going to have some kind of speaker maybe? on ed kids and how to best support them. 150 out 800 students are sped of some kind and so many of the rest of that 800 aren't designated sped for ed, but probably should be. we're looking at maybe having an ed classroom. so, giving our site the flexibility to do what they want is fine, but what i want to know is: are we getting the second half of the training we did this summer? i can think of a better use for my time personally, but a lack of follow through on something like that would just be too indicative of what is wrong with the district.
