i is in ur classroom, teachings u da histories

random aside: lolcats is heelarious!!! my schedule this year: 1-2 Periods: Proficient 7th Lang Arts Core 3 Period 7th grade social studies 4 Period 8th grade social studies 5 Period Prep 6 Period 7th grade social studies and 7 Period 8th grade social studies. Oh yeah, baby! It's on. 3 preps, 2 different grade levels. Who cares? I'm teaching 4 periods of social studies, not four periods of lang arts. Gotta love my VP. When our principal said we need her to teach another lang arts core, VP said nope. she wants social studies, she gets social studies. Hoo-ha! I can't believe I get to teach US history this year. I have sooo many ideas and resources I want to use. And the Brown Berets Youth En Power event I went to this week highlighted why I think education is important and how badly I want my students to understand that they have power and their choices now impact their lives in the future as well as in the now. I want them to know they have power to change the world around them. I mean, the whole thing was so posi except the f the police comments, but then, I'm a white woman who is a barista--cops love me. DWB isn't ever going to be a reason to pull me over. Knowledge is power. Know your rights. Gonna play The Clash fo' sure!!!
