monterey bay aquarium

one field trip down, two to go. it was aiight. the kids were mad fascinated by the tuna. yet the sea jellies failed to enthrall. go figure. the guidelines for the beach worked out well. the whitepower skinhead drugdeal that went down 50 ft from the picnic area was kinda fun, but i was the only one who noticed. one girl spent nearly the entire trip in the bathroom bawling her eyes out b/c she can't decide which boy to date. i kept trying to distract her w/ sea life. didn't work. the other kids were hella cute, playing on the slide, going thru the crawl tunnels, putting on the sea life costumes meant for 6 yr olds. i love middle school. they can be so exuberant and energetic when they forget to be worried that someone's watching. a couple of the kids were just so excited cuz they never thought they would make the trips and were so sweet and polite throughout the whole thing. i'm still glad it's over. fieldtrips are a lot more energy consuming when you're the teacher. alcatraz tomorrow.

Wow, I am impressed with your energy and dedication, taking a bunch of middle schoolers to these places! Good for you--they will remember it! You have really earned your summer break.
